Diego Carreno joined us in 2022 and with his welcoming manner and keen interest in hearing your story, he will shape your treatment to get you back to your best. Diego is fantastic at explaining your issue in a way that you will understand so you will know exactly what needs to be done to fix it.

Diego graduated with a Bachelor of Physiotherapy with Honours from the University of Newcastle in 2019. Since then Diego has enjoyed broad experience between private practice and both Gosford Private and Public Hospitals. This has helped Diego develop skills in many areas of physiotherapy with patients with varied conditions and backgrounds, so he is well equipped to understand the management of acute and chronic conditions, and everything in between. Diego’s strongest interest is in musculoskeletal conditions, which makes him a great fit for our team at Aspire. Diego also loves continuing to learn, and is forever reading research articles and listening to podcasts to further his knowledge and discover more ways to help his patients.

Diego is a lifelong Coastie and lives with his lovely wife, young daughter and pup. Diego was born to his Chilean parents and so grew up immersed in the South American culture of football… breathing it, playing it, watching it, and unfortunately, getting injured by it. Diego has unfortunately ruptured and undergone reconstruction of his ACL in both knees. Fortunately for us and our patients, just like many of us previously broken down physiotherapists, the rehabilitation process sparked his future career path. Diego realised that the physical aspect of physiotherapy was important, but recognised early on that there is a very challenging and rewarding psychological aspect to what we do as well. This is what Diego is passionate about: he wants to help you get through your physical journey back to your best, but with caring and educated reassurance and motivation along the way.

Diego’s special interests are in the solving lower back problems, knee pain and injuries, neck and shoulder pain and bone/tendon/growth-related injuries in young people. Diego has also spent a significant part of his career helping patients with neurological injury, such as stroke and traumatic brain injury and we welcome patients to Aspire that require assistance with their recovery from these conditions.

We’re proud that we have recruited Diego to join our team and we look forward to him helping you back to your best.
