Rory Mackintosh joined Aspire in 2025 following the completion of his Bachelor of Physiotherapy with Honours. Rory is a local with strong ties to the Central Coast community, graduating from St Edwards College before pursuing his passion for physiotherapy at the University of Newcastle.

With a lifelong passion for sports, Rory has extensive personal experience playing rugby union, soccer and Oztag, giving him a firsthand understanding of the demands of sport on the body. Like most physiotherapists, Rory knows what it is like to be a patient, having sustained a shoulder dislocation. In recent times, Rory has turned to events that he is better built for, and recently completed his first marathon, so he knows all about what it is like to be committed to fitness, a training plan, and to be in pain!

Rory has been part of the Aspire team for several years throughout his student journey. He has provided sports trainer coverage for Terrigal United FC Women’s Premier League and Central Coast United FC youth league, and continues to work on match days with Terrigal United FC Men’s Premier League teams. This has provided Rory with excellent opportunities to learn the management of acute sports injuries.

Rory brings enthusiasm, attention to detail and contemporary treatment approaches informed by the latest research and evidence-based practices. His honours education equips him with advanced knowledge and analytical skills that benefit his clinical practice and understanding of new research.

Rory’s particular interests include knee and shoulder pain and injuries, overload bone and tendon injuries, back pain, sports injuries and persistent pain. Whether you’re a weekend warrior recovering from injury, an athlete looking to optimise performance, someone managing chronic pain, or simply stiff and sore and need help, Rory is committed to providing personalised care and effective treatment plans to help you get back to your best.
